Itinerary
Swim, Eat, Play, Sleep, Repeat….
Your Journey Overview
5 days of swimming with at least 5 stunning locations to explore. We’ll offer one swim on days 1 & 5 and two swims on days 2,3 & 4. You choose how much swimming you wish to do. There’s plenty of time to relax, sightsee and experience Tassie’s East Coast.
Day 1
We look forward to meeting you in Launceston at either the City (approx. 12.30pm) or Airport (approx. 1.30pm) pick-up locations for our bus transfer to the coast. (Times to be confirmed once we have everyone’s flight or other travel details)
We'll cap off the day with an easy afternoon swim in Scamander to settle in, pre-dinner welcome drinks and sunset ocean views with our meal. Relax!
Day 2
Kick-start the day with a beautiful Beaumaris sunrise swim for the early birds and a beachside breakfast. Then we'll jump into some theory and practical time for our Watermanship / Waterwomanship skills to prepare you for your ocean adventures. More swimming and free time in the afternoon before testing our taste buds on local wine, gin, whiskey and delicious food.
Day 3
The world-famous Bay of Fires is a swimming paradise and we’ll even share a few secret spots for a swim around St Helens Point anyone keen for a second swim!
We'll have a picnic lunch on the beach, with locally-grown fresh Oysters. Yoga, massage, sauna and an afternoon siesta are all options before going out for dinner and a wildlife presentation.
Day 4
We'll head south to Bicheno and Diamond Island – home to the ‘Devil of a Swim’, an inspiring challenge. What will be your challenge 1,2 or 5k around the island? Sightseeing in the afternoon, recovery swim, eco-tourism experience and maybe sampling more of the local delicacies and beverages this area is famous for.
Day 5
Jump in for an early swim near Scamander before breakfast overlooking the ocean and then check out. We'll get you back to Launceston airport/city with plenty of time for your afternoon/evening flights. If you’re extending your Tassie holiday – enjoy!
Swim Safety
+ Medical Support
Your safety whilst in Tasmania is our number one priority.
Whether it's in the water, or on dry land, we will take every precaution we can to make sure you enjoy your holiday and - most importantly - return safely to your loved ones with some epic tales to tell!
Our safety team includes in-water and on-land support with qualified Paramedics, Remote First Aid and Surf Lifesaving personnel.
Our instructors have Open Water Swimming, Triathlon, Cold Water Therapy and Diving qualifications.
AMBULANCE
It is highly unlikely that it will be needed, however we recommend all swimmers have Ambulance cover for this trip (as a bare minimum), due to the remote location. There is a hospital in St Helens, however many cases are forwarded onto Launceston Hospital, which is a 2 hour trip by road.
Tasmanian residents are eligible for free ambulance transfers, however interstate swimmers will need to check if you have reciprocal cover with your state ambulance service and/or cover under private health.
INSURANCE
One Ocean International holds extensive Public Liability and indemnity insurance for all water and instruction activities. This policy is held with Dive Master Insurance (as Agents for Lloyds of London).
Medical + Minimum Swimming Ability
All swimmers will be required to sign a Medical Declaration and a Statement of Swimming Ability.
If you have any concerns about your health or fitness in relation to your capacity to attend please discuss with your GP and contact us if you have any questions.
Minimum Swimming Distance requirement is 400m of continuous swimming.
The small group enables us to tailor your Tassie Swim Journey, anywhere from 'turtle', to 'dolphin' speed, to suit where you’d like your journey to take you.
We’ll have 1:5 ratios in the water with the flexibility for 1:2 if required.

Wetsuits optional: February to April are the warmest months for swimming in Tassie and often we swim without a wetsuit or just use them for longer swims. A triathlon or swim-specific wetsuit or a flexible well-fitting surf wetsuit you can comfortably swim in will be fine. (A Christmas wishlist idea maybe!?)
We'll provide a detailed packing list once your booking is confirmed.
